Weekly Write-Up: 27th November 2019
Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.
This week: Kindle Quotes is rolled out as a new Kindle app feature, and John Leguizamo self-publishes a comic book.
Kindle Quotes
Got a favourite line from a book you love? Or want to share a line from your own book with your prospective audience? Amazon has just announced ‘Kindle Quotes’ – a new feature on the Kindle iOS app. By simply highlighting the text you want to share, you can choose your quote font and background colour, and then share it on social media. It’s a neat little feature… but no news on whether it’ll be coming to Android devices any time soon (or even Kindles!).

John Leguizamo Self Publishes a Comic Book
That’s right – actor and producer John Leguizamo is self-publishing a Latino comic book. They’re crowdfunding the project because of the lack of Latino representation in the industry – something Leguizamo is particularly passionate about changing.
In regard to self-publishing, he is quoted as saying, “Self-publishing is an act of self-empowerment.” It echoes this sentiment: if you don’t see yourself or your community represented, represent yourself.
You can read more about the project here.
