Weekly Write-Up: 25th March 2020
Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.
This week: Books Covered run a pre-made sale, the mysterious case of the vanishing Kindle Storyteller award, and the SPS Live 2020 digital sessions are now online.
Pre-Made Book Covers: Flash Sale
Our friends over at Books Covered (run by cover design guru, Stuart Bache) are running a new sale on pre-made book covers. They look fantastic and are coming in at about £52.50 per cover – a steal when you consider what a professional cover of that quality would normally cost you, and not much more than what you’d spend commissioning a cover on Fiverr.
I’m writing this on Monday, however… perhaps by Wednesday they’ll all be gone! Presuming there’s any left, you can check out the range of covers here.
Kindle Storyteller UK
For the past couple of years, KDP have run the Kindle Storyteller award – a £20,000 literary prize for English-language books published between May and August. Ian Sainsbury won in 2019, and Hannah Lynn the year before that.
But there’s been no word of the competition being held this year (disappointing, as I have a new series to promote!). Perhaps they’re a little late announcing it, or perhaps it’s another unfortunate consequence of the ongoing coronavirus situation.
If you’d like to check out last year’s competition page, click here.
SPS Live Digital Sessions Now Online
If you bought a digital ticket to SPS Live 2020 (or if you bought a physical ticket and were therefore gifted digital access), then rejoice: the digital sessions are now online!
There’s plenty to get stuck into during our period of self-isolating (there’s never been a better time to be a writer, right?), including sessions featuring LJ Ross, Joanna Penn, Michael Anderle and, of course, Mark Dawson, plus many other successful indie authors and entrepreneurs.
You can access the SPS Live 2020 course folder here.
(And you can still buy a digital ticket here.)
It’s also worth mentioning that we’ve extended SPF University access to everybody while the coronavirus situation is ongoing. There are loads of excellent in-depth sessions online already, and some more great ones on the way (Dave Chesson talks about metadata and keywords tonight, in fact!). Sign up here.
