Weekly Write-Up: 18th December 2019
Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.
This week: Amazon reviews go crazy, Ads for Authors closes today, and 2020 is just around the corner.
Amazon Reviews Go Crazy
Some of you may have noticed the reviews on your Amazon pages going a little haywire (or increasing, at any rate). It’s not entirely clear what Amazon is testing (and it does appear to be a test at this stage, as the reviews for some books are increasing and not others), but there are two possible causes: Amazon is collecting together the reviews from all its different stores, or it’s adding star ratings (without reviews) to the overall star count.
Either way – once they settle on something, it’ll likely be good for us indie authors.
Ads for Authors Closes Today
That’s right – the Ads for Authors course closes today (Wednesday 18th December, 2019) and won’t open again until the summer. If you want to learn how to master Facebook, Amazon and BookBub ads (plus a lot more, including the Advanced Facebook Ads for Authors course), you’d better hurry.

Goodbye 2019, Hello 2020
The next two Wednesdays are Christmas Day and then New Year’s Day, which means this is the last Weekly Write-Up of 2019. Sad face.
Don’t worry though – we’ll be back on January 8th. Who knows what 2020 will bring for us indie authors?
Here’s to another year of great (and with any luck, profitable) self-publishing.
