Weekly Write-Up: 24th June 2020

Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.

This week: the trad publishing industry continues to struggle, and Ads for Authors closes tonight.

Trad Publishing at Risk (Unsurprisingly)

Research by Oxford Economics suggests that the UK publishing industry (which includes books, newspapers and magazines) could see a £7bn fall in revenue due to Covid-19. As a result, more than 51,000 jobs might be lost.

Yikes.

Of course, this is unlikely to have too big an impact on indie authors – the problem isn’t that the demand isn’t there (people are going to be in the mood for affordable entertainment more than ever), but that large companies can’t afford to keep staff in such an unstable period of time.

You can read more about the report here.

Ads for Authors – Closes Tonight!

That’s right – if you’re thinking about registering for our Ads for Authors course, today is your last chance. We don’t expect the course to reopen until 2021.

Registering today will grant you immediate access to all the Ads for Authors material, including our brand new Amazon Ads course with Janet Margot, and ex-Amazon insider, and our upcoming Ads Automation for Authors course with Prestozon at no additional cost. But be quick!

Learn more about the course and the various payment plans available here.
