Weekly Write-Up: 11th September 2019

by Tom Ashford

Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.

This week: the Metro has an interesting interview with LJ Ross, and Amazon India announce the third year of their Pen to Publish contest.

The Author Who Knocked J.K. Rowling Off #1

As some of you may already know (especially if you’re reading this article after watching/ listening to this week’s episode of the Self Publishing Show), I’m talking about indie superstar LJ Ross, who recently topped the Amazon Charts in both the Most Read and Most Sold fiction lists — knocking the Harry Potter author off pole position.

Metro has a quick bio and interview with Louise, if you’re interested, as well as a snippet of news on her brand new series of books. Click here for her eight tips for aspiring authors.

KDP Pen to Publish Contest

Amazon India has announced its third year of the Pen to Publish competition, through which winners can expect between ₹10,000 and ₹5 lakh. Authors can submit their entries as either short-form (2,000 to 10,000 words) or long-form (over 10,000 words), whether they’re written in Hindi, English or Tamil. The competition is open from September 15th to December 14th 2019. The competition is, as you may have guessed, exclusive to authors publishing in India.

Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, quality of writing and customer feedback. The winners of all six literary awards are even in with a chance of seeing their books be adapted into Amazon Prime Video productions!

You can learn more about the competition and how to apply here.
