Weekly Write-Up: 16th October 2019

Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.

This week: Kobo Writing Life now accepts self-published audiobooks, and how to make the most of your Kindle keywords.

Kobo Writing Life Now Accepts Self-Published Audiobooks

Kobo has previously allowed self-published authors to upload their books to every store through which Kobo sells books, through their Writing Life platform. Kobo also has an audiobook service, available as on app on iOS and Android, but it hasn’t been possible for self-published authors to access it.

Until now.

It’s still in beta stage, but some indie authors can now upload their audiobooks, set prices, and even decide the countries in which they’d like to publish… just as with ebooks.

You can read more about Kobo’s new venture here.

Kindle Keywords

A new article was posted in the SPF FB Community page the other day, which I think might be of interest to any readers. It’s from Dave Chesson from kindlepreneur.com and Publisher Rocket (formerly KDP Rocket).

He writes about how some marketing gurus claim that we should be using as many of the characters in each Kindle keyword as possible (up to a maximum of 50 in each ‘box’), and others think we should only enter in a very specific target word or phrase. He takes a deep dive into the data and finds out which is more true.

He goes into far more detail than I can go into here, but needless to say, if you’re interested in learning more about making the most of your Kindle keywords, check it out.

You can read it here.
