Weekly Write-Up: 22nd April 2020

Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.

This week: the Kindle Storyteller award returns, BookBrush are presenting an SPFU webinar tonight, and we launch our new course: How to Write a Bestseller.

Kindle Storyteller UK 2020

Finally – some good news in the age of coronavirus! Previously thought lost amongst the chaos of Covid-19, the Kindle Storyteller Award looks set to return in 2020. Any English-language book published through KDP between May 1st and 31st August is eligible. There’s a £20,000 prize.

Last year’s winner was Ian W Sainsbury. You can read more about the competition and its previous winners here.

BookBrush Webinar – Tonight!

We have another premium webinar this week, this time with the team from BookBrush! For those who don’t already know, BookBrush is a site that gives you the tools to create images (such as Facebook ads and 3D mockups) from your books (plus more).

It’s a great and relatively new service. If you’re enrolled in the SPFU you can watch it tonight at 9pm UK time, or catch the replay in the SPFU course folder shortly afterwards.

And if you haven’t already signed up to the SPFU, you can do so here.

New Course: How to Write a Bestseller

That’s right – we’ve just launched our brand new craft-focussed course, How to Write a Bestseller. Put together and presented by bestselling author Suzy K Quinn, it covers everything from planning your novel for the best chance of success to writing compelling characters to plotting a page-turning narrative (and much much more).

There’s $100 off for early adopters, so be quick! You can enrol in the course here.
