Learn Self Publishing Foundation
We want to make successful self-publishing a possibility for everyone. We know that our premium courses aren’t cheap and that not everyone can afford them. That’s why, in conjunction with Reedsy, we launched the SPF Foundation. Every year we give aspiring students a once in a lifetime chance to get their indie author careers off to the best possible starts.
For applications closing December 2024, we have nine Foundation places available. Four places are sponsored by Learn Self Publishing and Reedsy, plus we have additional places sponsored by Marc Reklau, Lucy Score, Craig Martelle and James Rosone. Lucy Score will be sponsoring two places, one place specifically for Romance and one place for an author of colour, Craig Martelle’s spot is specifically for Science Fiction and James’s spot is specifically for military veterans learning to find a new role in life outside the military. All winners will also receive an author planner from Purpose Action Success. We thank all of our sponsors for their kind generosity in supporting the SPF Foundation.

Scholarship details
Up to ten scholarships will be available every January.
Each scholarship will consist of:
- Lifetime access to the two SPF flagship SPF courses, Self Publishing Launchpad and Ads for Authors, with all accompanying bonus modules and access to the two closed Facebook groups, Genius and Mastery.
- $2500 of services to be spent at Reedsy for author services, including cover design, developmental or copy editing, proof reading and formatting.
- Free promotion of your new releases to hundreds of thousands of readers on eligible Written Word Media sites.
PLUS: An author planner to plan your book writing business from Purpose Action Success.
Who are we looking for?
We want candidates who have the potential and desire to excel as self-published authors. Assessment will be made based on quality of writing, desire and ambassadorial potential, with quality of writing having the greatest bearing. We are particularly looking for candidates we feel could have strong commercial success. You’ll need to meet these criteria:
- You have an annual personal income of less than $40,000 USD (or equivalent).
- You’ve written and self-published at least one ebook in English (fiction or non-fiction).
- You have at least ten 5-star reviews on Amazon or equivalent platforms.
- You have not previously purchased the Self Publishing Launchpad or Ads for Authors courses.
- You are willing to complete and implement the Self Publishing Launchpad and Ads for Authors courses in full.
- You’d be happy to be interviewed on the SPF podcast upon winning the course and 1 year later, and to participate in other publicity if required (e.g. filmed testimonials.)
- Previous applicants are welcome to reapply.
