Weekly Write-Up: 18th March 2020

Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.

This week: Amazon gets flooded with coronavirus books, the first ever SPS Live went off without a hitch, and there’s one week left to sign up to 101.

Amazon Gets Flooded With Coronavirus Books

Never ones to shy away from a lucrative opportunity, scammers (or perhaps just rubbish writers) have rushed to publish countless books on the coronavirus, from children’s stories to guides that have copied and pasted from official guidelines.

This probably isn’t the sort of niche-grabbing indie authors want to be known for.

Amazon has been quick to remove those which go against its guidelines. And if you really want to read about pandemics, I’m sure there are plenty of great non-fiction (and fiction) titles already out there.

You can read more about it here.

SPS Live & Self Publishing 101

Last week saw the first ever Self Publishing Show Live event, which, despite the looming threat of the coronavirus, went down fantastically! It was great to see so many enthusiastic indie authors descend on London’s South Bank, as well as to hear from the self-publishing greats (Mark Dawson, LJ Ross, Michael Anderle and Joanna Penn, to name a few).

If you fancy watching the show online, you can get your digital ticket in advance here.

There’s one week left for Self Publishing 101 before the course closes until later in the year. If you want to get your indie career off to the best possible start (like many of those who attended our show!) then make sure to sign up here.
