Weekly Write-Up: 29th January 2020

Welcome to the SPF Weekly Write-Up, where each Wednesday we collect together the self-publishing news of the week so you don’t have to.

This week: how to revive your backlist, the SPF merch store opens, and a Netflix show mentions self-publishing.

How to Revive Your Backlist

So it took until you’d written five or six books before lightning struck, and the titles you released before are languishing at the bottom of the Amazon charts. What can you do to breathe new life into them?

BookBub have put together an article all about how to revive your backlist, whether your books have dropped out of the chart or never made a dent in the first place. Their suggestions range from designing new covers, to promoting them with a free prequel, to putting them together as box sets, to changing the prices. All good tactics – worth a read.

You can check out the article here.

SPF Has Merch!

Have you always dreamt of wearing an SPF tee-shirt? What about a hoodie that labels you as a Talentless Hack? Well, now’s your chance!

In the run-up to SPS Live (London, March 9th), we’ve put together an Amazon Merch storefront where you can choose either SPS Live branded clothing or tee-shirts/ hoodies that reflect your monthly earnings according to the “Peterson scale” (long story).

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Features Self-Publishing

Apparently, Aunt Hilda self-published an erotic novel in Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”. I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know if it’s a joke or if self-publishing is taken seriously in the show.

…that’s all I’ve got for that one.
